Jane Eyre is in many respects a revolutionary novel far from the image of what "classic" literature is. It is a blend of social criticism and thought about morality and religion. It is also the intimate portrayal of a woman through an intimate first-person narrative. Hence, the novel is the cornerstone of many modern "feminist" novels giving voice to strong and powerful women who take their inner life as the centre of the story. But it is also a wonderful description of the Victorian times with a unique perspective on education, family life and the importance of social background. Finally, it is also the ultimate love story between Jane and Mr. Rochester including passion, heartbreaks, and forgiveness... For all these reasons, Jane Eyre is a role model for all of us and for the way stories are told nowadays.
